CIQS EXAMINATIONS

TPE Part A

Candidates holding Associate or CEC membership, who have outstanding CIQS subjects (TPE Part A) for the CEC or PQS designation, have an option to write the CIQS exams as an alternative to completing continuing education courses.

Offerings
  • Exams are offered on the first three (3) Wednesdays in February, May, and October (subject to change depending on enrollment numbers)
  • Click here to view the exam schedule.  Note that the schedule is accessible only to CIQS members and will be available when registration for the exam session is open.
  • Exams are invigilated remotely and will require the candidate to have access to a computer with a webcam and stable Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth to support the streaming and viewing of camera feeds.
  • Information packages and past papers/study guides (if purchased during registration) will be issued to candidates after registration is closed.
CIQS Exam Preparation
  • Candidates will be required to self-study using the CIQS syllabus as a guide to prepare for the exam(s). 
  • It is recommended that all required course material and textbooks are purchased at minimum four (4) months prior to the exam date to allow for sufficient time to study and learn the content outlined in the syllabus before challenging the exam.

Tips for self-studying

  • A list of the required textbooks and materials can be found in the CIQS syllabus for the subject.
  • CIQS published texbooks can be purchased through the CIQS BookstoreLogin to your CIQS Account to access member only prices. 
  • Textbooks or materials that are not published by CIQS will need to be sourced directly through the publishers, online bookstores, local libraries, etc.

The fees per subject are as follows:

  • Add $10 to Early Bird or Regular Pricing for the Past Paper Option
  • Registrants will receive a refund of fees paid less $100 for each cancelled exam if cancellation is received 30 days prior to the start of the exam session.
  • No fees will be refunded, except for medical reason (subject to proof), for cancellations within 30 days of the start of the exam session.
  • Refunds can only be processed on the credit card that was used at the time of registration.
  • A $100 fee per examination will be applied for rescheduling examinations from one session to another. Only one transfer per registrant will be allowed. This fee is per exam.
  • Examinations are graded on a pass/fail basis.
  • Passing grade for CIQS exams is 60%.
  • Result will be issued via email when available (approximately 4 weeks from the last exam date when all examination papers have been received back from the candidates).
  • If you have a recognized and medically diagnosed condition or disability, you can submit a request for accommodations that address your special needs (e.g., if you are visually impaired, we can provide an exam with larger font).
  • Requests are to be submitted to [email protected], with current supporting documents.
  • We review accommodation requests case by case. If you need an accommodation, we reserve the right to determine the conditions of your exam including start times.

CIQS exams are set in English, but they will be available in French upon written request to [email protected] after registration to said exam(s) and no later than the exam registration deadline. Please note that translation is only available for exams. Resources are only available in English and translation of publications are not available.
