Samuel P Jacob, Owner, Roof Raise Engineering Inc
Samuel P Jacob is a dual professional (PQS and P.Eng.) and is the Principal of Roof Raise Engineering Inc and Sr. PM at ROOFLIFTERS Inc. He graduated, with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Madras University, India and spent the first 10 years of his engineering and construction career in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the U.A.E. As a Project Engineer and Project manager in large Construction companies, he has been exposed to some QS firms in the UAE, working on Tenders, Final accounts and variations to the Contract. He also completed his DBA (Diploma in Business Administration) from Annamalai University.
Coming to Canada in 2001, he has qualified himself as a QS (Quantity Surveyor) by taking courses and exams at George Brown College and CIQS respectively and attained the CEC and PQS designations in an accelerated manner. He has been very actively involved with the CIQS at the Chapter (GTA) and Provincial level holding positions of Vice Chair and attending most AGM’s and PAQS 2017. His estimating expertise in retail construction helped Planit Construction Inc. to secure projects all across Canada. He was part of the first cohort of the LIEP program (Licensing International Engineers in the Profession) conducted by the University of Toronto, which enabled him to qualify to get his P.Eng License.
After getting his P.Eng. License in 2015 he is an active volunteer and the chair of the PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario) Scarborough Chapter, Board of Executive (2024). Samuel has, as an PM of Estimating, Engineering and Project management developed and prepared templates customized to the ROOFLIFTING Industry, based on a blending of pre-engineering and preliminary elemental analysis. His unique almost 47 years of post-graduation experience, in large and small companies across 3 continents, is something he is keen to share with others, of both the QS and engineering profession.
