A CIQS delegation traveled to Ottawa on April 15-16, 2024 to speak with Members of Parliament about how involving PQS and CEC professionals on federal infrastructure projects deliver value. The delegation presented government officials with three recommendations:
- That the federal government involve industry stakeholders in the early stages of all federal infrastructure projects to ensure optimal return on investment and cost assurance. It is essential to address concerns related to potential price escalation to deliver the best value for taxpayers.
- That the federal government move forward with its commitment to the National Infrastructure Assessment of an independent advisory body, with Construction Economist’s involvement entrenched in Canada’s long-term infrastructure plans.
- That the federal government tackle the Canadian housing crisis by implementing effective oversight for allocated housing funds. Investing in construction serves as a key economic drive to deliver essential affordable and supportive housing infrastructure.
